The Details

From the start, we knew this would be one of our longer-form pieces, so the challenge was finding the right balance between engaging and informative—while staying true to OtterBox’s reliable, professional brand. The modular nature of the case system added another layer, as we needed to speak to multiple audiences and leave room for future expansion.

Our approach was to bring in energy and personality without overdoing it. We blended light humor with a mix of influences—subtle infomercial moments, action-style pacing, a touch of “mad scientist,” and relatable everyday scenarios—all grounded in clear, practical product details. The goal was to create moments that stick, showing how OtterBox’s modular solutions fit naturally into real-life use.

With a script from OtterBox in hand, our team developed a structured copy outline and explored a range of on-screen graphic directions. After internal review, we aligned on a single, cohesive approach that carried through into storyboards and guided the animation from start to finish.

During storyboarding, it became clear the cases needed more dimension than a flat treatment could offer. We developed a 2D/3D hybrid style, giving the products a more dynamic, tactile presence while still integrating seamlessly with the overall 2D animation.

The video was designed with flexibility in mind—broken into modular chapters for sales tools, while also working as a full-length piece for presentations and online use. At its core, the goal was simple: clearly demonstrate how easy the uniVERSE Case System is to use across a wide range of applications.

The final piece has been well received by creative teams, sales teams, and audiences alike—successfully capturing the OtterBox brand while showcasing the system’s versatility in a way that’s both engaging and easy to understand.
